Language Learning Programs – The Language Flagship

The Language Flagship
The Language Flagship is a national effort to change the way Americans learn languages. Although the first Flagship programs were designed for post-baccalaureate students, in 2006 The Language Flagship introduced undergraduate Flagship programs. They offer language learning programs in critical languages for students across the United States. The programs include Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, and Russian. The programs can be domestic or overseas, and they offer financial support as well. After graduation, they have links to government programs, such as the Boren Fellowship, and business partnerships that can further help people learn languages.

DSS They have also taken steps to push language learning down to the K-12 level. The Flagship K12 Initiatives aim to prepare students to enter college with an established and measurable skill in a second language. The Language Flagship's mission is to empower a small but rapidly expanding group of innovators to develop and implement new models of undergraduate language learning and to diffuse these models throughout higher education.
