U.S. Federal Government Pathways Internship Program

The Pathways Internship Program is a paid internship opportunity administered by the U.S. federal government for current students and recent graduates. Internship placements include USAID, U.S. State Department, and other federal agencies.

The program is designed to provide students with opportunities to work in agencies and explore federal careers while still in school and getting paid for the work performed. Internships offer students invaluable hands-on experience and exposure to careers in the public service and international development.

Internships run for the fall, spring, and summer semesters. These positions are temporary and do not convert into permanent positions.

Clarke Diplomatic Security Fellowship

U.S. Department of State
A two-year graduate fellowship designed for individuals who want to pursue a masters degree and a career as a Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Special Agent in the U.S. State Department's Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and those with financial need are encouraged to apply.

DSS Special Agents are sworn federal law enforcement officers, responsible for the security of Foreign Service personnel, property, and sensitive information around the world. The program provides up to $24,000 annually for tuition and up to $18,000 annually for expenses associated with the program. Each individual receives personalized mentoring and training in addition to two summer practicums, one domestic and one abroad. Upon successful completion of the fellowship, participants become DSS Special Agents and agree to a three-year commitment in the Foreign Service.

Upon successful completion of the fellowship program and Foreign Service entry requirements, fellows receive an appointment as a Foreign Service Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Special Agent. Fellows agree to a three-year commitment in the Foreign Service as a DSS Special Agent. Once appointed, DSS Special Agents are required to successfully pass a rigorous training program.
