International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition

An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 23 of August, repeating indefinitely
This international day has been designated by UNESCO to bring attention to the tragedy of the slave trade to all people globally. It brings an opportunity to consider the history of slavery as well as its methods and consequences and the ways in which slavery has shaped the modern world.
